Description
Located on the E end of Martha's Vineyard, includingChappaquiddick Island, 6 mi SE of Vineyard Haven (US-T121).
History
Name suggested by Governor Lovelace of NY in honor of the son of the Duke of York, Price Edgar (1667-1671), who unknown to the Governor, had died a month before the name was bestowed. For a few months in 1671, it was known as Great Harbor. Settled in 1642 and incorporated in 1671 (MA-T1).
