Description
Located on Buzzards Bay, 50 mi S of Boston (US-T121).
History
Settled in 1640 and incorporated as a town in 1787, and as a city in 1847. Named after the Duke of Bedford, relative to the Russells, a family of early settlers. The New was prefixed because there was another Bedford in MA (MA-T1).
