Description
Located 12 mi SE of Taunton (US-T121).
History
Settled 1675 and incorporated as a town in 1683. While it was common land owned by 26 men of Plymouth, Duxbury and Marshfield, the area of the town was called Freemans land, which was changed to Freetown at the incorporation. The Indian name for the town was Assonet (MA-T1).
