Description
Located in the Town of Florida, 5.9 km (3.7 mi) northeast of North Adams, 1 km (0.6 mi) northwest of the head of Granger Brook, 3 km (1.9 mi) east of Mauserts Pond.
History
Named for Master Sergeant Roald Bakke, who was killed in January 1961 during "a horrific storm" aboard a Texas Tower Radar Warning Station off the coast of Cape Cod. Master Sergeant Bakke was second in command of the 28-man crew of military and civilian specialists who lost their lives attempting to save the structure.
