Description
Runs through the Hoosac Range and partly through the Berkshire Hills, its W end in the Hoosic River valley 1.5 mi SE of North Adams, and its E end in the Deerfield River valley; City of North Adams and Town of Florida.
History
This railroad tunnel, named for the Hoosac Range, was constructed between 1851 and 1875 at a cost of 195 lives and 20,000,000 dollars (AGS/p457).
