On Upper Cape Cod, extends W from Megansett to Buzzards Bay between Scraggy and Nyes Necks; Towns of Bourne and Falmouth.
History
Formerly known as "Cataumet Harbor" meaning "place of many waters," the feature was renamed "Megansett Harbor" by the Legislature of the Commonwealth of MA on April 9, 1920; the name is that of an Indian tribe which once lived on the shores of the bay (Board on Geographic Names (BGN) files).
