Located NE of Walsey Creek on the S shore of the Chester River, 2.7 km (1.7 mi) WSW of Queenstown. (US-T121)

History

Named for Englishman Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard, the best known and most feared pirate who allegedly buried some of his treasures near this cliff. Blackbeard was killed at Ocracoke Inlet on 22 November 1718 after an intense battle with the Royal Navy, sent by his nemesis, Virginia Governor Alexander Spottswood. (US-T121)
