Description
Flows southeast to the Chesapeake Bay, 24 km (15 mi) east of downtown Baltimore.
History
One theory for the origin of this name suggest that a mill which operated in the area before the Revolutionary War made gunpowder. Another theory suggests that the name came from an early settler who gave the Indians some gunpowder. (US-T121)
