Description
Heads just north of Oaklawn Cemetery, flows southeast 2.4 km (1.5 mi), then northeast to Back River, between Greenmarsh Point and Wetherby Point on Patapsco River Neck, 11.3 km (7 mi) east of downtown Baltimore.
History
Although reportedly named in one source at the time of the Battle of North Point during the War of 1812 as soldiers sat on the banks of this stream eating their rations of bread and cheese, the name appears in Provincial Court Land Records, 1770-1774, and so the origin of the name is not established.
