History
Named Riviera Beach by the Pumphrey brothers because the "property faces on the river, and it is in the river area." The Pumphrey brothers bought the land in the 1920s and developed the Riviera Beach Development Company. Originally the site was a summer resort, but a flood of World War II defense workers changed it into a year round community. (US-T121)
