Description
Located along the south-central coast of Maine.
History
Incorporated in April 1854 and established from part of Lincoln County. "Sagadahoc" is an Indian word meaning "mouth of the river", referring to the Kennebec River which flows through the County's eastern portion. (US-T131/1955/ME Place Names,p9)
