The N portion of Salmon Lake extending N from the narrows which separate it from Ellis Pond, 3.4 km (2.1 mi) W of Oakland; Towns of Belgrade and Oakland. (US-T121)

Reported to have been named for Thomas McGrath who settled in the area about 1815.
