Description
Located in south central Kentucky, along the boundary with Tennessee, 129 km (80 mi) south-southeast of Lexington; County Seat: Williamsburg.
History
Established in 1818, named for Colonel William Whitley (1749-1813), who was killed in Canada during the Battle of Thames i the War of 1812. (KY-T1/p317)
