Description

Located in south central Kentucky, along the boundary with Tennessee, about 121 km (75 mi) south of Lexington; County Seat: Monticello.

History

Established in 1800, named for General "Mad Anthony" Wayne (1745-1796), who served in the Revolutionary War and the Indian Wars. He assisted in negotiating the Treaty of 1795 with the Indians. (KY-T1/p311)
