Description
Located in central Kentucky, about 48 km (30 mi) southeast of Louisville; County Seat: Taylorsville.
History
Established in 1824, named for Captain Spear Spencer, a veteran of several post-Revolutionary War battles; he was killed in the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811. (KY-T1/p278)
