Description
Located in eastern Kentucky along the boundary with Virginia and West Virginia, 174 km (110 mi) east-southeast of Lexington; County Seat: Pikeville.
History
Established in 1821, named for General Zebulon M Pike (1779-1813), a pioneer explorer killed in York, Canada, during the War of 1812. (KY-T1/p233)
