Located in southern Kentucky, along the boundary with Tennessee, 129 km (80 mi) south of Lexington; County Seat: Whitley City.

History

Established in 1912, named for James B McCreary (1838-1918) who served as Governor of Kentucky from 1875 to 1879 and from 1911 to 1915. (KY-T1/p183)
