Description
Located in central Kentucky, about 32 km (20 mi) southeast of Lexington; County Seat: Richmond.
History
Established in 1785 while Kentucky was still part of Virginia. Named for James Madison (1751-1836), 4th President of the United States from 1809 to 1817.
