Description

Located in northeastern Kentucky along the Ohio River and the boundary with Ohio, about 97 km (60 mi) northeast of Lexington; County Seat: Vanceburg.

History

Established in 1806, named for Meriwether Lewis (1774-1809) who partnered with William Clark to lead the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1804 and 1805. (KY-T1/p171)
