Description
Located along the Ohio River in western Kentucky, 32 km (20 mi) east-northeast of Owensboro; County Seat: Hawesville.
History
Established in 1829, named for John Hancock (1737-1793), President of the Continental congress from 1775 to 1777 and first signer of the Declaration of Independence. (KY-T1/p129)
