Description
Located in northeastern Kentucky along the Ohio River and the State of Ohio, about 130 km (80 mi) northeast of Lexington; County Seat: Greenup.
History
Established in 1803, named for Christopher Greenup (1750-1818), one of two Congressmen to first serve Kentucky in the US Congress from 1793 to 1797. Also served as Kentucky's Governor from 1804 to 1808. (KY-T1/p126)
