Description
Located in central Kentucky, 11.3 km (7 mi) south-southeast of Louisville; County Seat: Greensburg.
History
Established in 1792, named for General Nathaniel Greene, a Revolutionary War hero. For unknown reasons, the spelling of the county name was approved by the Legislature as Green County and not Greene County. (KY-T1/p125)
