Description

Located in northern Kentucky, about 48 km (30 mi) south-southwest of Columbus, Ohio; County Seat: Williamstown.

History

Established in 1820, named for one of the Grant brothers: Colonel John Grant (1754-1826), a pioneer in salt production in Kentucky, Samuel Grant (1762-1789), a surveyor who died in battle with Indians, or Squire Grant (1764-1833), a surveyor and landowner who served in the Kentucky State Senate, and later as sheriff.
