Located in east-central Kentucky, about 113 km (70 mi) east of Lexington; County Seat: Sandy Hook.
History
Established in 1869, reportedly named for John Milton Elliott (1820-1879), who served in the US Congress from 1853 to 1859, the Congress of Confederate States from 1862 to 1865 and Justice of the Kentucky Court of Appeals from 1876 to 1879. (KY-T1/p98)
