Description

Located in northeastern Kentucky along the Ohio River and the Big Sandy River, and the boundary with West Virginia, about 130 km (80 mi) east-northeast of Lexington; County Seat: Catlettsburg.

History

Established in 1860, named for Linn Boyd (1800-1859), who served Kentucky as a US Congressman for 18 years, and Speaker of the US House of Representatives from 1855 to 1859. (KY-T1/p33)
