Description

A 2.5 mi tributary of Fishhook Creek from the E, 4 mi S of Avery; St. Joe River drainage.

History

Named by surveyors Caulkins, Jones, Pardee, and McDonald, who camped here while working with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) survey in 1910. A horse belonging to the party got down on a rock ledge near the campsite and could not get off. He fell from the first ledge to another, crippling himself. The party finally managed to pull the horse off the ledge with ropes and ultimately brought him back into the camp.
