Description
The BGN approved this name in 1928. The description of the location was imprecise and so the name was mislabeled on USGS topographic maps in 1972. In 2014, the GNIS coordinates were corrected to 440331N 1150237W.
History
Reportedly named because a packrat was seen on the mountain. It has also been suggested that the peaks of the summit resemble packrats' ears.
