Description

In the E extremity of the county along the South Fork Payette River, at the W edge of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, 0.8 km (0.5 mi) W of the community of Grandjean.

History

Named for Sacajewea, a Shoshoni woman who traveled with the Lewis and Clark Expedition. A proposal to change the spelling of the name Sacajawea Hot Springs to Sacagawea Hot Springs was submitted in February 1998. In May 2000, the proposal was rejected by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (USBGN).
