Description

Located on the SW tip of the island of Oahu, 8.3 km (5.2 mi) WSW of Ewa, 26 km (16.5 mi) W of Honolulu.

History

Kalaeloa is a traditional Hawaiian name meaning "long point". Barbers Point was named for Captain Henry Barber, not long after his ship ran aground here in October 1796. Of Barber's 22 crewmen, six drowned.
