Description
Located in west central Georgia, 29 km (18 mi) south of Atlanta; County Seat: Fayetteville.
History
Established 15 May 1821, as an original county; named for Marquis de Lafayette of France (1757-1834), who fought against British on the side of the American Colonies in the Revolutionary War. (GA-T21/p76)
