Description

Located in northern Georgia along the boundary with Tennessee and North Carolina, 116 km (72 mi) north northeast of Atlanta; County Seat: Blue Ridge.

History

Established 21 January 1854, named in honor of Colonel James W Fannin (1809-1836) who died during "Fannin's Massacre" at Fort Goliad in Texas in the War of Texas Independence. (GA-T21/p75)
