Description
Located in central Georgia, 77 km (48 mi) south of Macon; County Seat: Vienna.
History
Established 15 May 1821, as an original county. Named for Colonel John Dooly (1740-1780), who commanded a regiment at Kettle Creek and who was killed by the Tories in the Revolution. (GA-T21/p64)
