Description
Located in north central Georgia, just east of Atlanta; County Seat: Decatur.
History
Established 9 December 1822, named in honor of Johann DeKalb (1721-1780), a German who sailed to America with LaFayette. DeKalb served as Inspector General of the American Army and later with George Washington at Valley Forge. (GA-T21/p62)
