Description
Located in southern Georgia, 116 km (72 mi) east of Albany; County Seat: Douglas.
History
Created on 9 February 1854; named for General John E Coffee (1782-1836), who served in the War of 1812 and the Creek War. He later served in the Georgia State Senate and the House of Representatives. (GA-T21/p49)
