Located in northwestern Georgia along the boundary with Alabama, 116 km (72 mi) northwest of Atlanta; County Seat: Summerville.
History
Established 28 December 1838; named for the Chattooga River which was named for the early Indian town of Cha tu' gi; derivation is unknown.
