Description
Located in southern Georgia, 96 km (60 mi) east northeast of Albany; County Seat: Fitzgerald.
History
Established on 31 July 1906 from Irwin and Wilcox Counties; named for U S Senator Benjamin Harmey Hill (1823-1882), Whig leader who voiced strong opposition to Reconstruction efforts. Served as State Representative and Senator. (GA-T21/p17)
