Description

Located in central Georgia 116 km (72 mi) southeast of Atlanta; County Seat: Milledgeville.

History

Established as an "original county" on 11 May 1803 and named for Abraham Baldwin (1754-1807), an attorney who served as State legislator, was a signer of the Constitution of 1787, and helped establish the University of Athens. (GA-T21/p13)
