Located in southwestern Georgia, 135 km (84 mi) south southeast of Columbus; County Seat: Newton.
History
Established on 12 December 1825 from Early County; named in honor of Colonel John Baker (? - 1792), a farmer who served in the Revolutionary War. He also served in the Georgia House of Representatives. (GA-T21/p12)
