Highest elevation in Florida at 345 feet. Located near Lakewood, 2 mi southeast of Florala.
History
Named in honor of the Britton family which donated the land for a park in Lakewood. The family operated a lumber mill in Lakewood beginning in 1904. At its height, the company and its owner, William H. Britton, owned 45,000 acres of timberland. The mill in Lakewood - which could produce 50,000 board feet of lumber daily - was supported by the company store, general office, commissary, employee housing, hotel, and medical facilities.
