Description
Located in The Thimbles, 600 ft. northwest of Governors Island, 0.3 mi. southeast of Rogers Island.
History
In 2000, the U.S. Board on Geographic Names received a proposal to change this name to Dove Island. In 2001, the proposal was rejected, citing long-term local and published usage of the existing name. The name Potato Island was reaffirmed for Federal usage.
