Description
Located 1 km (0.6 mi) north of Sunnyside Lakes, 2.6 km (1.6 mi) southwest of Harper Reservoir, 18 km (11 mi) northwest of Burns and 56 km (35 mi) south-southwest of the community of Steamboat Springs.
History
Named for John T Benton (1927-1991), third generation family member and lifetime resident and rancher in the area. Mr Benton, a former president of the Colorado Cattleman's Association, was appointed by the Governor to serve on the County Water Board, and for 12 years was a member of the County Water Conservancy District and the Eagle County Planning Commission.
