History
First titls to William L. Swift when listed as a railroad station (1889) name was spelled 'AVIN'. Later changed to 'AVON'. Possibly named for Avon River in England by a homesick Englishman for the Avon Valley (CO-T3/020391/p10/"After Bobbing for Names, Bridge Helps Town Find Frame" by Joe Garner)
