Description

In Sequoia National Park, on a western spur of the Great Western Divide in the Sierra Nevada, 4.8 km (3 mi) south-southwest of Mineral King and 26 km (16 mi) east of Three Rivers. (US-T121)

History

Named for Albert Alfred Hengst (1868-1944), Three Rivers business and civic leader, conservationist, and pioneer trail builder, who in 1905 began transplanting golden trout from the east slope streams of the Sierra Nevaada to the barren west slope streams and lakes. (US-T121)
