Located 2.9 km (1.8 mi) northwest of the community of Three Rivers and 2.4 km (1.5 mi) southwest of Kaweah. (US-T121)
Named for James Barton (1819-1912), Jason Eleazer Barton (1864-1938), and Robert Hardin Barton (1899-1977), three generations of a pioneer family that contributed to the development and progress of the community of Three Rivers and Tulare County. James served as a member of the Tulare County Board of Supervisors for 17 years, and is credited with the retention of Visalia as the county seat and the construction of the courthouse in that community. His son, Jason, had the unofficial title of "Mayor of Three Rivers", while his son, Robert, was a Three Rivers cattle rancher and citrus grower. (US-T121)
