Description
Located in sec 35,T15S,R30E, Mount Diablo Meridian. In Sequoia National Park, on the southwest slope of Alta Peak, just south of the heading of Mehrten Creek. (US-T121)
History
1928 Board on Geographic Names (BGN) Decision mis-spelled as "Merten". The feature was named after James Mehrten (1815-1893), an early settler and cattleman of Three Rivers. (US-T121)
