History
A proposal to change the name Stillwater Cove to Stockhoff Cove was submitted by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) NMD in September 1983. The U.S. Board on Geographic Names (USBGN) rejected the proposal on 5 October 1984, based upon the recommendation of the California Board.
