Description
11 miles long. Heads 3.7 km (2.3 mi) southeast of Elizabeth Lake, extends southeast into Antelope Valley 5.2 km (3.2 mi) west of Palmdale. (US-T121)
History
Formerly named Leonis Valley after Miguel Leonis (1824-1889), "The King of Calabasas", an early pioneer and settler of Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. Over the years the spelling of the name has been corrupted to Leona. There is no local conflict of the current spelling, "Leona Valley". (US-T121)
