History
Named for Major Frederick Russell Burnham, (1861-1947), D.S.O. (Distinguished Service Order), explorer, Scout leader, and author of "Scouting on Two Continents." He served as an officer in the Boer War and was active in the advancement of the Boy Scouts of America.
