History
A proposal to change the name Schober Lakes to Schober Holes was submitted by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) NMD in September 1982; the proposal was rejected by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (USBGN) on 9 June 1983, based upon the recommendation of the California Board, which stated that Mr. Schober was still living, and that the features were more similar to lakes than holes.
