History
Named for Mount Suribachi (a summit on the island of Iō-tō, formerly Iwo Jima), because a small replica statue of the United States Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima Memorial) is located on the summit, and to honor the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy.
